OSCAR

This field of sleep disorders can be overwhelming. It is our goal to help you learn the basics about your sleep disorder.

If you’re already on CPAP, you probably are pretty curious about how you are doing with your therapy. Is is working? Am I sleeping? Is all this even worth it? Is there anything that I can do to make my sleep better with CPAP?

The answer to most of these questions can be found within a free program called OSCAR which was created by a CPAP user who wanted a way to look at his own CPAP machine data.

OSCAR is one of the coolest free software programs available. It is incredibly user friendly and gives you a ton of data. It’s difficult to put it all into words what it can do, so please check out the videos below that show you most of what you need to know to get started and understand what you’re looking at.

If you still haven’t received a CPAP, APAP, or Bilevel machine yet, you may want to check out the OSCAR at sourceforge.net to see what machines are compatible with this program. You can also download this program there for free!

Check out the videos below to get started. Using the OSCAR Free Software program can make the difference between successful CPAP therapy and continued daytime sleepiness.

I could type this all out, but the video is much faster and easier to follow. Please view the YouTube video to see how to download SleepyHead. It is the first step in being able to view the data (for free) from your data capable Philips Respironics System One machine, ResMed S9 machine, or your DeVilbiss Intellipap Machine.

The video below shows how to navigate through the SleepyHead program. Learn how to analyze specific waveforms while you are using PAP therapy. There is also some tips on how to determine whether or not those “Central Apneas” shown on your report are real or not. These machines and data aren’t perfect, but they do provide some very valuable information. Questions? Join the FreeCPAPAdvice.com Forum below.

All good? Probably you’ve still got some questions that are making you scratch your noggin. The data isn’t perfect and it takes awhile before you’re used to taking in all the data and making sense of it. Here are a couple more videos on some topics that may arise when looking at your SleepyHead data. Good luck!
